Continuing Education Policy

PURPOSE
Continuing education is necessary for the introduction and review of all intradepartmental equipment and / or procedures and policies.
SCOPE
It is the responsibility of the department supervisor to educate all staff members on any new procedures, policies, or equipment used in the clinical laboratory, and pertaining to their particular job.
POLICY
All department personnel will attend in-service programs for any new equipment, procedures, or policies that relate to their job. In-services will be held a minimum of quarterly.
PROCEDURE
Continuing education requirements for clinical laboratory staff are met by the following:
- Policy review
- In-house in-services
- Off-site programs
- Manufacturer sponsored training programs
- Audio-visual aids
- Hospital Safety CE Program
